Who is responsible

The MOAI organising team (Moroccan Olympiads in AI) runs this platform to teach artificial intelligence, run contests and organise Morocco’s national selection for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).

For any question about your data, write to the address below. The public information website morocco-ioai.org has its own privacy notice.

contact@morocco-ioai.org

Data for every account

To create an account we ask only for:

  • a username, which is public;
  • your email address, which is private and used to sign in and to contact you;
  • a password, stored only as a one-way hash that nobody can read back;
  • the date and time you accepted this notice under Law 09-08.

Extra data if you join the IOAI national selection

If you answer “Yes” to taking part in the IOAI national selection, we also ask for the information needed to check your eligibility, organise training and contact you or your family:

  • student: full name, sex, date of birth, phone number (optional), school level, whether you are enrolled or an independent candidate, whether you hold the baccalaureate, school name (optional), region (AREF), provincial directorate (optional) and city;
  • parent or legal guardian (required under 18): full name, phone number and email address, and the date of their authorisation;
  • experience and availability: previous national olympiads, programming and machine-learning experience, hours per week on a computer, internet access, whether your school has a GENIE room, whether you can attend in-person training and how you heard about MOAI;
  • the date you expressed interest in taking part.

Creating an account does not enrol you in the IOAI selection or the Moroccan team. Participation is confirmed only after the organisers have verified your details and eligibility.

Data created while you use the platform

The platform records what is needed to run lessons, grading and contests:

  • lesson progress and your chosen preferences;
  • submitted code, grading results, scores and submission times;
  • contest registrations, rankings and ratings;
  • community posts, comments and appeals you write;
  • during some contests, and only after you acknowledge a notice, code checkpoints and window-focus changes for the integrity committee;
  • security data such as IP address, browser type and sign-in times, used to protect accounts, limit abuse and investigate faults.

Why we use it

We use your data only to run your account and the Moroccan Olympiad in AI: providing lessons and practice, grading submissions, running contests and rankings, checking eligibility and selecting the national team, contacting you or your guardian about the programme, and keeping the platform secure.

We do not sell your data, show advertising or use advertising trackers. Selection decisions are taken by people, using contest results and verified information; they are never based only on automated processing.

Who can see your data

  • Everyone: your username, rankings, ratings, public community posts and the profile fields you choose to make public.
  • Only you and authorised organisers: your email, phone number, date of birth, selection answers and guardian details.
  • The integrity committee: contest checkpoints and integrity signals, only when reviewing a case.
  • Technical providers acting on our instructions: Amazon Web Services hosts the platform; the email service that handles messages you send us.
  • IOAI organisers: if you are selected for the national team, only the details they require to register you, and you will be told beforehand.

Where it is stored and how it is protected

The platform and its database run on Amazon Web Services in the Paris region (France). Data therefore leaves Morocco to a country of the European Union, whose data-protection rules (GDPR) offer protection comparable to Law 09-08.

Connections use HTTPS, disks and backups are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and access to private data is limited to the organisers who need it. Submitted code runs in an isolated sandbox.

How long we keep it

  • Account and selection data: while your account is open. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
  • Selection answers of a finished cycle: only as long as needed for appeals and for the public record of the selection, then deleted or made anonymous.
  • Contest checkpoints and integrity signals: 30 days, or up to 180 days if needed for an open review or appeal.
  • Database backups: 30 days. Server logs: 14 days.
  • Sign-in sessions: 12 hours.

Cookies and browser storage

We use only what the platform needs to work: a sign-in session cookie, a language cookie, and browser storage for your theme, reading preferences, code drafts and lesson state. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Reading preferences from the accessibility menu stay in your browser and are never sent to us.

Students under 18

Students under 18 who join the national selection must have the agreement of a parent or legal guardian, whose contact details we collect so we can reach them. A parent or guardian may exercise the rights below on behalf of the student.

Your rights

Under Law No. 09-08 you may ask to access the data we hold about you, have it corrected or completed, have it deleted, and object to its processing on legitimate grounds. You may withdraw your consent at any time; this ends your participation in the selection but does not affect processing already carried out.

Write to us from the email address of your account, or have your guardian write to us, and say what your request concerns. Do not attach identity documents unless we ask. You can also contact Morocco’s data-protection authority, the CNDP.

  • Submit a complaint to the CNDP

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when our processing changes and show the date of the last review above. Significant changes will be announced on the platform.
